Freeware Gold

This is a short list of the Freeware which, quite simply, I find essential to my everyday computing.

There is a lot of Freeware about, and I have downloaded many programs. In my opinion, these files are among the best downloads available. I have provided a short description of the file, together with a link to the download site. I hope you find them as useful as I do.

If you're on a tight budget like me, you'll welcome these excellent free utilities.

I think that FTP Explorer is the best freeware client for uploading web pages and poking around public FTP sites. It's simple to add your favourite FTP sites, or your own ISP for uploading your home pages, and even comes with some popular FTP sites already programmed in for you to peek at.

  • Bookmark Wizard - Creating a page of links
Of most use to Internet Explorer users, this clever freeware program generates an HTML page from your grouped favourite links from your Internet Explorer favourites folder, or wherever else you have a selection of internet links. I find it very useful as I often create shortcut links whilst offline, but find I waste time switching back to the desktop to load the link. This program saves a lot of time, is very configurable, and allows you to create a home page of links very quickly. It also makes it easy to send your favourite links to your friends in a convenient HTML file.

  • WebFerret - Finding websites

Instead of using various search engines, why not try a free internet search assistant, such as WebFerret. This simple little program lets you look for web pages in up to nine search engines simultaneously. When you see something you like, a click on the link will start-up your browser and follow the link.
