Doom Legacy
If you still have a copy of the classic game DOOM somewhere (the Shareware version is fine) - I recommend that you try out DOOM LEGACY, and more importantly glLegacy, if your system supports OpenGL.Pop over to the Doom Legacy site and read all about it, then download the latest version of Doom Legacy from there.
Also read the excellent help file which explains what you need to do to get glLegacy working.

Dispense with blocky graphics, play the game as it should be, in Hi-Res colour, at a staggering 1024x768, with
fantastic lighting effects and added "Special Effects", ammunition tracing and more!
Recent enhancements include:
- extra lighting effects, including coronas
- ability to widen your viewpoint, enhanced peripheral vision
Other enhancements include:
- Mouse look UP and DOWN, which brings in a new skill element if you disable autoaim
- More realistic violence (I've left monsters out of my screenshots, for reasons of sensitivity!)
- A special Doom Launcher, which makes it easy to configure your start-up preferences
